Only a select few cryptocurrencies have been around as long as Litecoin, and more than 90% of them are dead. Fact is, Litecoin was created when I was still just a kid. Fast forward several years later, and it makes up just about as much of my portfolio as Bitcoin does.
Honestly, I don’t know why I became so optimistic about Litecoin. I was buying back when it was $40 or less per coin as early as 2018. I rode it up to $400 per coin, roundtripped… sold when it was much lower and forget about it for years.
At least, it can be summed up to forgetting about it… I thought it was dead. I honestly thought to myself that people investing in Litecoin were acting foolishly.
Then, one night I hopped in a space with some respectable people on Crypto Twitter, and they started talking about Litecoin — positively. My ears perked and for some reason I was hooked. In less than 48 hours I had gone from being utterly bearish on $LTC to it being my highest conviction play second only to Bitcoin.
Maybe this is indicative of the potential fact that even after almost eight years in the market, I’m still green as grass. Maybe I just have decision fatigue, and struggle to make up my mind… or commit.
Or maybe, just maybe… a coin with thirteen years and zero downtime, technologically superior to Bitcoin in almost every way, a narrative as simple as the big daddy crypto itself, and possibly the only chain to adequately solve the blockchain trilemma with practically zero competition (thesis courtesy of a Litecoin Discord server caretaker by the name of prytaneis) is completely undervalued with a real value of closer to $20,000 USD — at present.
Next thing you know, I see this master guy posting on X about how Litecoin’s valuation is easily five figures plus, and now I’m really curious. Who wouldn’t be?
Turns out the Litecoin community is just about as strong as they come, too. The Foundation is making some serious moves, even on the socials side of things. The Litecoin community rivals just about any in crypto, and if you don’t believe me — go see for yourself.
I’m now feeling more encouraged than ever to put together my Raspberry Pi and start mining some Litecoin. Merge mining at that. Makes it even more appealing, profitable, and secure. And where did this encouragement come from? Fellow Litecoiners!
Like Saylor? He once implied that Litecoin was the next best thing to Bitcoin.
Institutions? ETFs are around the corner, and even big dogs like Fidelity recognize Litecoin’s value, as it is one of three of their crypto offerings — the others being Bitcoin and Ethereum.
Litecoin is made in America. It’s available on PayPal. It’s the most used crypto for payments on BitPay.
Oh, and if you haven’t watched the video about Litecoin posted by @nfinityAI yet — check it out, it’s a work of art.
Want my non-financial advice? Much like Bitcoin, Litecoin is poetically simple, complex, and pure — all at the same time. Don’t sleep on Litecoin. If you do — you might just miss the opportunity of a lifetime
